I realize I haven't updated Devon's blog in some time - he hasn't written very much in his group messages lately - busy busy! Last week I received an email from his mission president (one sent to all parents). The mission boundaries are changing to create a new mission in Buenos Aires. Devon will stay where he is but will miss having the temple as part of his mission boundaries. So last Monday, all the missionaries attended the temple and they took this GREAT picture outside. Devon is in the middle right section towards the back - see if you can find him!
Here's some of the updates from the past month:
June 8- Well everyone! I am SUPER excited to be here in a new area!! My new area is CIUDADELA and it is HOOD. Hahahaha I am now in an area that is very close to downtown Buenos Aires, lots of houses and little room. Our apartment is AWESOME. We live in a 16 story building on the 12th floor and the apartment is HUGE with a sweet view. Love it. The area is very very very rich in some places and we also have some places called "Villas" which are like favelas from Brazil. If you've seen Fast and Furious 5 it looks like the place where Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel have an intense chase scene. Hahahaha Awesome area and tons of potential!!
My companion is Elder Stuart! (see photo attached) he is from Fresno California and has about 5 months in the mission. A great guy and we are learning a ton together!! He is super excited to work here and we are gonna work some miracles!!! :)
And I have been called for this transfer as District Leader!!! Super excited!!!! I am the district leader for 2 Elders and 4 Sisters and we are gonna demolish this place hahahaha!
I've thrown on a few photos for you guys of the place, the comp and the silly new district leader! :)
June 15 - First week here in Ciudadela! Its been a good one! Lots of work to do, lots of help needed in the ward and I am very excited. Being a District Leader rocks and I am loving serving the other missionaries and being more involved with more parts of the work! This week I don't have too much time to write so I will invite you all to do 2 things!
1. Look up a place on Google : La Villa Fuerte Apache in Ciudadela and see what you think! That's where I'm walking! :)
2. Be boss ;)
Have an amazing week! I will try to write a better email next weekkkkkk!!!
Sooooo.....here are some pictures of LaVilla Fuerte Apache......
June 22 - Well it was a solid week everyone. Yesterday we got to go through the temple!!! (for like my 10th time in the temple of Buenos Aires) and it was our last time as a mission together at the temple - seeing that next week we will be moving the temple over to the Buenos Aires south mission :( But hey, it was an amazing day and we felt the spirt a ton!!! And I totally received some serious personal revelation with an activity we had with President!
This week we found a BOSS new investigator. His name is Brian! He is 20 years old and seriously a boss. Super smart and loves the lessons we have had with him. We have only taught him 2 up until now but he has a baptismal date for the 11th of July! He came to church on Sunday and loved it! He was participating in the classes and is super super boss. We love teaching this guy and he is totally in the water!
I am loving being district leader!! The missionaries in my districts are awesome and we all have an awesome time together! I have an Elder from Colorado and one from Utah (of course) a Sister from Vegas and a Sister from Utah (of course) And two sisters from Peru! But we all know the Canadians are the best........ hahhaha ;)
We have had so many new boss investigators this week and we are super excited for this coming week to help them start to progress! We have a lot of faith and are really excited to help this mission out! The mission is struggling with the baptisms!!! But we are gonna change that! The people cant be THAT hard of heart. But hey we shall see how it goes! We are gonna have some SERIOUS MIRACLES!!
In case you hadn't caught on - the missionary word for this month is BOSS!
Happy he's doing so well and laughing that he's saying how chilly it is!! And how he needs to go buy a warmer sweater. We won't mention that I told him he'd want to pack a sweater and threw one in his suitcase the morning he left...and now he needs a warmer one!
Till next time - stay BOSS everyone! We've almost hit the ONE YEAR MARK!!!!!
