Update #2 - "We Have A Basketball" and he still believes in the Celtcis!!

Feb 9
Good day Ladies and Gentlemen! This week has been a FULL week! I would like to start with my new area!
I am now in a place in Buenos Aires called Mariano Acosta! An AMAZING ward! The biggest ward that I have been in yet... but the bad news. I still have to play piano!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have now gone from playing piano for 7 people to 140, so that should be a challenge to look forward to! The members here are amazing and are so excited for the work! They all want to give us references and go teach with us!

I also would like to make three other good points:
1. The Church is literally right beside our apartment.
2. There is a basketball court.
3. WE HAVE A BASKETBALL!
DANG RIGHT BABY!! We are playing some serious ball in the morning now and on Pdays!

I luckily have stayed with my companion Elder Rossi! So I do not have a new companion but we are sharing the apartment with two other awesome missionaries : Elder Connell and Elder Pribyl who are great guys! We are having a ton of fun and I can tell that the amount of success we are going to have is going to be amazing.

To finish I will share a miracle that happened yesterday. Elder Rossi and I were walking down the street to a certain destination to tract. We were saying hi to people on the street when suddenly we saw a woman walking fairly fast with her little daughter and a couple bags towards us. As she walked by we say hello and she looked up and said hello - but we noticed she was crying. She walked by fast. We thought about going back but figured it would be creepy to chase her down. We were about to continue when I had an unbelievably strong sensation in my heart that literally told me "Run after her" I looked at Elder Rossi and said we need to go after her. She was already 4 blocks away. We ran after her, and talked to her sweating and heavy breathing. She had gone through a very very tough week, I will not share details. But we made her laugh, gave her a Book of Mormon with our names and number and the Church address so she could find us again. She was very grateful and said we made her day. It may have been the best moment of my mission, no matter how small it was!
Well that is the miracle of the week I hope you all have many other miracles in your lives and that you guys are playing lots of ball ;)

This was a week of searching for new investigators, which resulted in the Lord placing many prepared people in our paths that we had never even planned! We have found some pretty incredible people! We only just need to keep up following up with them and praying for them that these things we teach them will touch their hearts and bring the blessings and guidance they need to their lives.

Basketball is good ;) hahahaha thought Id better throw that quick comment in there.

This past week I have been doing a pretty big study on the attributes of Christ that I need to apply to my life to make me a stronger person. I have found much success in the work and strength in my mind and body as I've applied the attributes of faith, patience, and humility. I encourage you all to look at the kind of attributes that you can apply to your lives, and how those will help you maybe get a better grasp on the life trials that each one of us has.

This has been a pretty laid back week! Nothing huge to report!  Nothing crazy this week, only that one night I woke up in the middle of the floor of our apartment! Strange..... :)

Once again, I love you ALL!!! Stay awesome, play ball and the Celtics are going to get it back together dont worry ;)

Feb 23
I will start with some big news that I just heard a few hours ago! Elder Rossi and I just went to the mission offices and the assistants told us that Elder Rossi will be moved tomorrow and I will be receiving a new companion! But... My new companion will be a fresh new Elder from the MTC I will be a trainer as of tomorrow!! So sounds like I'm gonna have to do some serious teaching and working to help this guy out! I am super excited!!!!!

Until then, Elder Rossi and I are working very well together and having a very fun time. Knocking lots of doors and getting lots of rejections, some are pretty ridiculous the excuses we get but hey, everyone's got their agency!

Although things are moving slow, we make sure to have a good time, lots of basketball and lots of good jokes and singing lots of songs! We have found a dog we like to call "Satan Dog" because this dog LITERALLY wants to kill us and eat our faces. It is scary, this dog has been known to bite and attack old women and bite kids so we like to tease that dog and throw sticks at it!

(I emailed him saying to stop throwing things at Satan's Dog because he will get free, he will remember you, and he WILL bite you!)

We are working hard with an investigator named Juan. A pretty quiet man and a humble man as well. His wife and daughter (8 years old) died last year and it was very very hard on him as you can imagine. He still has struggles with depression and stress but has told us that we have helped him a ton. We have had very spiritual lessons with him.

Anyways everyone! I'm gonna peace out! We got packing to do for Elder Rossi and I kinda wanna play some ball ;) JOKES! I wanna baptize!!! Things are great and I love you all and I hope that all is well with each one of you!

Update #1 - THE PACKAGE

During the months of November and December, I was busy getting a package ready for Devon.  You see, our very good friends Donna and Steve just happened to be travelling to Buenos Aires in January and said they would gladly take down a package for Devon and deliver it right to the mission home!!  I was thrilled as parents are told not to mail packages as they are stolen or the mission home has to pay the post office to even pick it up!  Craziness!  So I made Devon a photo book because for some dumb reason we didn't think to send Devon with ANY pictures from home, and bought church CD's and tie pins (to give away) and his favorite candy (Rockets) and Wintergreen Lifesavers.  I wrote him a letter, sent stickers for him to give to kids there, and added in Tide-to-Go cleaning sticks, etc.

I was so excited!  Steve picked up the package and a week later sent me a picture of the mission home saying it was delivered!!
And then I waited....but one morning I read this email from Devon...

(Written on February 2nd)
Hey Mom,
Well, I'm really sorry about this, but I am going to have to start the email on bad news to get the bad news out of the way.... :(
So the offices got my package all good, and the missionaries there gave it to my zone leaders, who were bringing it out on the bus. And on the bus.......The package got stolen...... :( I am super super super sorry about that Mom!!!! My zone leader felt sooooooooo bad, and I didnt even get to see the package!!! I feel more sad for you knowing all the work you put into it!! Ugghhhh I am really sorry to start on that bad note..... But that is what happened sadly. It was a blue bag correct? Because that is what my zone leader told me.

This was my Facebook post that morning:
"Pretty sad that the package I put together for Devon and our good friend delivered to the mission home in Buenos Aires, was stolen on route to Devon. The one chance to get something to him from home. Thing is, there wasn't anything valuable, all personal stuff."
I was really disappointed, and yes I'll admit it, I cried over it.
And then I moved on but kinda hoped somehow, someone would find it and figure out where it should go.  But THAT would be highly unlikely!!

Until...

Hey Mom!
 A MIRACLE.
Mom you will not believe this but.... we FOUND THE PACKAGE!!!!!!!!! And I have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! What a miracle eh??? The offices called us just after we finished emails last week and they told us that the package reappeared in the offices!!! So you can rejoice!!! And I LOVE the pictures and music and rockets(my drugs) and everything!!!  Thank you so much for putting in the effort for that package and I cant even imagine how happy you will  be when you hear that I got it! The Lords hand was at work there!

My reply (since I happened to be on the computer the same time he was emailing me... "WHAT!!!!?????????!!!!??????????  That is so amazing and literally a MIRACLE!!!!!! I am soooooo thankful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Miracles happen.  They really do!
