Argentina Mission President Robbed

It was bound to happen - dog stories continued....

From Last Week - Well my second week down in the mission field (Devon is in Ituzaingo which is one hour west of Buenos Aires) and I am absolutely loving it!! :) Argentina is definitely the place for me! (Especially since he found a basketball court!! haha)

First of all, big shout out to my brother Cameron for his 16th birthday on Saturday!! Happy Birthday Cameron and keep being a BEAST!

Well, where do I start to share experiences this week?? Overall its been great. We met with a woman named Marcela for a family home evening at a members home, and she was investigating the church. We taught her the first lesson and she was totally into all of it!! She asked tons of questions and wanted us to teach more and more! We will be meeting her again this week and hopefully be able to teach her more for her to be prepared for more blessings in her life! :D

That was a high point for us this week! Unfortunately, there are down points though hahahaha. We`ve had some difficulty finding new people around town lately to teach but we are still working hard!! The members are way good at supporting us and helping us in our work.

Believe it or not, there are a massive amount of dogs here in Buenos Aires. We see more dogs than people everyday. And they like to bark a LOT at us, and...several don't really like us hahahaha. Elder Hunt and I were walking with a member to - Esteban - to teach a lesson. I was walking in front of a house with a gate and tall fence. All the houses have fences and gates, and pretty much every house has at least one dog. So I wasn't surprised when the dogs came running up to us to bark at us. What did surprise me however was when one of the dogs jumped and stuck its head through the fence and decided to chomp me on the arm!!!!!! Talk about "Who Let The Dogs Out". Luckily it wasn't bad, we cleaned it out, used some medicine and we are going back to the house to make sure the dog was vaccinated. (Which means it broke the skin, yikes!) But don't worry all!! I have no problems and I'm feeling great as always :)

I love you all and stay awesome!!!

When you google search "large dogs of Argentina" this comes up!  I spoke with a friend from South America last night and she mentioned the Argentine Dogo - very common there.  I'm betting Devon's seen a few of these.... Oh and apparently he has several of these (the slugs) in his apartment!

From this week - Hey again everyone!!
Well this week was awesome. I had my first transfer meeting and we have been working hard as always! I have a few things to share with all of you today!! :)

First of all, we had a couple miracles the other day. We were walking the streets trying to find some new investigators while heading to a member home. We knocked on one house and this woman came out to talk to us. She was super nice and invited us in! But she said we couldnt talk about religion AT ALL. So, we werent sure what to do, we went in and sat down and she went inside to get drinks. I started thinking "What am I gonna say???" Then, I just decided to calm my mind and just be friendly and let the Spirit guide the convo! She came back and we talked a lot about our families (You guys!!) and her family as well, she introduced us to hers. Then after we had really got to know her we managed to get into teaching her the first lesson off of families! We taught her the whole lesson, gave her a Book of Mormon and she said she wanted us to come back again!! She loved the Book of Mormon and told us she was going to read it for sure!!! :D She went from strictly no religion, to accepting a lesson and book.

Second miracle. We went to a less active home, and luckily they were there! So we went in and had a great message with them, talked with their family and committed them to coming to church. Then we left. We walked literally two houses further and found two men talking outside that we talked to and shared a message with AND gave a Book of Mormon!! They were super funny and very accepting! Then we left. Again we literally walked two houses and found a less active member who wasnt on the church list who was just about to call someone to get our phone number!! We went and had a great convo with them and shared the first lesson with the daughter who is not a member!!! And they came to Church yesterday!!! So literally we walked 6 houses and found a ton of opportunities to help. :D

The other day, two of our investigators got married!! Now that they are married their baptismal date is this coming weekend!! :D I will try to send some pictures of an Argentina wedding to you guys.
Yesterday in church, the bishop, (who reminds me of a young version of my Grandpa Davidson :))  invited me up to the stand to bear my testimony..... Whew that was good. hahahaha. Luckily all the members thought I had already been in the mission for a year because apparently I spoke very well in Spanish!!

Well everyone, I love you all! I hope these stories and miracles will help you guys look for the blessings and miracles in your lives!! I am currently trying to look for one blessing in particular right now. All the members have been telling us about how 2 years ago there was a tornado here in Buenos Aires!!! So I am keeping an eye on the sky ;)

And BTW, the dog has been vaccinated and Devon's bite is healing fine!

Stay amazing all of you!!
Love
Your Working Hard Elder
