3 WEEK UPDATE - The tale of how Devon will miss the snow and how the Argentinian women LOVE to talk!

An awesome week here in BA. I hope all is well and perfect as can be for all you guys!!
I will start by saying - we had a baptism this week!!!!! :D It was amazing. I don't think I've seen a baptism since my own baptism so this one was super cool to see!!! Daiana and Jony, they were both mega happy after the ordinance and very happy to be accepted into the church. I'm hoping it will be the first of many baptisms in my mission!!

Well I also don't know if any of you heard about this on the news. But our mission president was "kidnapped" for a few hours this week!! He was driving to the mission home and at a red light some men with guns came up to his car got it and drove away with him! He is okay now, he pretended to not speak Spanish, so they took his money and computer and phone and car and went off. It was big news around the mission community but we are happy to say he is okay now :)

Elder Hunt and I are currently working with a woman named Karina. She has been investigating the church for a lonngggg time, but hasn't been able to be baptized because she has trouble giving up smoking. She REALLLYYY wants to be baptized and she REALLLYY wants to quit smoking. We have been working hard to help her out. We have made several plans for her, call her every night and I am going to give her the vitamins and healthy food I have to help her have some good nutrition. We are making progress. Already she has gone from 7 a day to not smoking for the past 3 days, she gave us her cigarettes and reads the Book of Mormon everyday. We have a baptismal date for her for the 18th which we are hoping she will be able to make it to!

Well everyone, its been a fun week! We are working hard, it is raining lots and the natives ask me often why I am not cold when I walk outside, so I just tell them I am from Canada. I love you all and

Hey everyone!!

This week was a good one, yesterday at church Jony and Daiana were confirmed, Elder Hunt and I were able to participate in the ordinance :) I couldn't help smiling when they got confirmed as members of this church, there was such a great feeling in the church that day :)

We have a new investigator coming to church with us lately! Her name is Celeste and she is 11 years old. Yesterday was testimony meeting, it was only her 2nd time at church and she wanted to give her testimony! We have set a baptismal date for her on the 1st of November and she is very excited. Her father is a member of the church, but hasn't gone to church in a while. He is starting to come back and has told us how grateful and blessed he is that we found them and began to help them come back to church. Our hopes now is that he can prepare himself to do the baptism for his daughter, but he has told us he's not sure if he will be able to. We will see what happens and do our best to help him out!
Our other investigator with a baptismal date is Karina. She is doing okay, still struggling to overcome smoking but it looks like things are starting to get a little better. Unfortunately she didn't go to church yesterday because she said she was tired :( weakk..... Anyways we are going to keep working with her and we know that she can definitely do it! We have been finding people each day to help and teach, and we have a bunch of appointments we are gonna hit up this week!

Well, I have bad news now. It is starting to become summer here in Buenos Aires..................
The other day I thought it was REALLY REALLY hot. But the members told me that is nothing compared to later months. I've heard some scary stories about how hot and humid it gets from other missionaries as well, so being Canadian definitely does not help here. So for the next few months I will probably be cooked alive. Have fun with the Canadian winter! I will miss the snow!!
I love you all, stay awesome, kick nuts, be boss. I look forward to sharing all these amazing experiences with you!
Stay amazing.

Hey everyone!
Well another awesome week down in the field. Its still getting way too hot so I'm not liking that part! But I'm sure all you back home are getting close to enjoying some nice Canada winter, (which I'm probably going to be missing A LOT in the next few months!)

Hmmmm where can I start for this week?!! We have been working hard to develop a sense of URGENCY among the members and missionaries here in Ituzaingo. I myself am trying to develop a greater desire everyday to find more people to teach and bless! And already this has helped a ton in the way we see people, we have been trying to just talk to any possible people we can, going through the area book and old investigators trying to find places to plant seeds of faith.

We have lately been working with Celeste! I can't remember if I told you guys about her, she is 11 years old and LOVES coming to church and all the things about church. Her dad is a member but hasn't gone to church in a long time - about 4 years, and now he is starting to come back. He loves talking with us and teasing us! His name is Juan and he is hilariousssss (and he has a pet scorpion which he likes to tease my companion with hahahaha that gets a good laugh out of me).

Right now we've noticed that we often have more success with investigators if we can get the members of the ward to help befriend them and teach them and support them. This brings a ton more success to the people we teach and they feel a whole lot more comfortable. Elder Hunt and I are going through a phase in the mission where we are trying to talk to and contact as many people as possible to try and bring them back to church and help them feel supported. We are working hard in this area!

And I've learned one thing too, the Argentina Women - usually the older ones - talk SOOOOO MUCH I've planned to bring a pillow to the next lessons we have with an older woman because they just talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk hahahahaha. Regardless of that, I love all the people here, they are all amazing and everyday this place - Argentina - becomes more and more a special place in my heart.

You guys are awesome!! Work with the missionaries! Be awesome! I love you all! And for my family and close friends, you remember my cliche phrase ;) haha, keep kicking the world in the ..... !
I love you all! Stay amazing :)
Love
Elder Healey
